Box Score Winfield, KAN. - Johan Rodriguez (FR/Texas City, Texas) scored two goals and assisted on the third as the Panthers used a second half surge to win their first conference game of the year 3-0.
York outshot the Moundbuilders from Southwestern College 12-2 in the first half, but couldn't find the back of the net. Rodriguez changed that quickly as he scored the game-winning goal less than three minutes into the second half. And then five minutes later Jovanny Ruiz (SO/Oklahoma City, Okla) threaded a ball to Rodriguez to score an insurance goal.
In the 70th minute Rodriguez found Mateus Ramalho (FR/Fortaleza, Brazil) open and passed him the ball for the final goal of the game. York ended the match with 25 shots, 11 of them on goal. York's defense had seven shots against them, three of which made their way on frame. Francisco Esteves (FR/Tomar, Portugal) was credited with two saves, while the team picked up the other.
Ramalho led the team with nine shots, followed by Rodriguez with five, and Alan Gomes (FR/Fortaleza, Brazil) with four.
York will host another conference matchup this Wednesday when University of St. Mary comes to town. Kick off is slated for 3:30 p.m.
