YORK - York College chalked up another win on Wednesday afternoon as they beat the visiting Mount Marty Lancers 2-0. The Panthers controlled the game as they out shot the Lancers 33-2. Fifteen of the Panthers shots were on goal, while two of them found the net.
Even though the Panthers racked up six shots on goal in the first half they were not able to find the back of the net until three minutes into the second half. After a corner kick by Stephanie Dye (FR/Walnut, Calif) deflected back to her, she put a nice chip into the box and Breanna Bembenek (SO/New Lenox, Ill) was able to connect on her second goal of the season to give York the 1-0 lead.
Thirty minutes later Carmen Zavala (SO/Chino, Calif) was able to let the Panthers breathe a little easier as she scored off of a pass from Ciara Flores (FR/Rancho Santa Margarita, Calif). Cassandra Martinez (JR/Madera, Calif) picked up the shut out as she faced two shots, but only one was on frame.
York will hosts Northwestern College Saturday afternoon with a 1:00 p.m. start.
