Men's Soccer: York gets back on track with road win at Bethel

North Newton, KAN. - After a scoreless first half the Panthers made some adjustments and controlled the second half offensively as they beat Bethel College 3-0 on Saturday night.

Otavio Avila (FR/Morro Redondo, RS Brazil) scored less than a minute into the second half when he gained control of a free ball inside a mix of players about 12 yards out. He then assisted on the other two goals by Jorge Alencar (SO/Recife, Brazil) as the Panthers got back into the win column after losing back-to-back games.

Gabriel Cabral (SO/Campinas, Brazil) picked up the shut out as he picked up two saves in the game. Avila was the gamechanger as he came off the bench to give the spark for York. He created a lot of problems for a solid Thresher defense and was able to help the Panthers maintain possession in the offensive third.

York improves to 9-4 on the season and 5-2 in KCAC play. The Panthers host Friends University on Tuesday afternoon with kickoff scheduled for 3:30 p.m.
