Women's Soccer: Bembenek dominates in another Panthers' victory

Box Score

YORK - Breanna Bembenek (SR/Manhattan, Ill.) gave fits for the visiting McPherson College Bulldogs on Friday afternoon. She tallied a total of seven shots and scored twice as York beat the Bulldogs 3-0.

Jazmin Pineda (JR/San Diego, Calif) also had a huge game as she controlled the ball in the midfield and flustered several Bulldog defenders. She assisted all three goals in the game as the Bulldogs had no answers.

York got on the board in the 14th minute of regulation when Pineda punched the ball through the middle and Bembenek slotted it to the far post for the eventual game-winner.

The game would stay 1-0 for the remainder of the first half. The second half was all York as the Panthers scored less than five minutes into the half as Amber Jimenez (SR/Gilbert, Ariz) passed to Pineda, who then dished another pass to Bembenek for the goal. In the 72nd minute of play, it was Caitlyn Trower (JR/Sherman, SD) who found herself on the receiving end from Pineda. Trower found the pass inside the goal box and kicked it in towards the far post for the third and final goal of the game.

Alexa Moreno (JR/Duarte, Calif.) picked up another shutout for the Panthers as she saved seven shots. A couple of which were crucial in the game.

The Panthers improve to 3-0-1 on the season and will host Oklahoma Wesleyan on Saturday. The Eagles will be a tough opponent for the Panthers as they are averaging over six goals per game and rank number two in assists, and number three in total goals, in the NAIA.

The game is scheduled for 1:00 p.m.
