Manduvi lifts Panthers to big road win

Box Score

Salina, KAN. - Archford Manduvi scored his first career goal in the fifth minute of play against Kansas Wesleyan on Wednesday night. That goal ended up being the game-winner as the Panthers held the Coyotes in check all night.

Tamas Sebesten had a clean look at the goal but a hard save by the Coyote goalkeeper deflected the ball to his right. That's when Manduvi was in the right place as he one touched the ball back into the net for the score.

York controlled the field for most of the night maintaining possession throughout and only allowing Kansas Wesleyan to get six shots off. Only three of those were threatening at all and Cristofer Monje handled each one of them. All three shots on goal occurred in the first half as the Panthers' defense shut down any offense the Coyotes hoped to establish late in the game.

The Panthers pressured throughout the game and picked up 14 shots on the night, seven of which were on frame. Manduvi led the Panthers with four shots, two on goal. Sebestyen and Isaac Perkins were also credited with two shots on goal while Alexandre Motta added the other one.

York will host Ottawa University on Saturday afternoon with a start time of 12:00 p.m.
