Box Score McPherson, KAN. - The York College Panthers dominated the stat sheet on Saturday as they faced the McPherson College Bulldogs on the road, but it was the home team that came away with the 2-0 win. York outshot the Bulldogs 24-5, but were unable to find the back of the net during the 90-minute match.
McPherson scored in the 12th minute off of a corner kick that was headed in by Lucas Williams. Marcus Fernandes scored an insurance goal in the 79th minute that deflated the Panthers hopes of sending the game into extra time.
The first half looked a little more even as it was just a 7-3 advantage on shots. The second half, however, saw the Panthers' offense push hard with a 17-2 advantage, but the Bulldogs Colby Swift stopped every shot he faced on the afternoon. York also had a 13-0 advantage on corner kicks in the second half. But every time the Panthers looked to score a Bulldog was there to keep the goose egg on the scoreboard.
Johan Rodriguez finished with a game-high six shots, followed by Tamas Sebestyen with five.
York finishes the season with a 9-9-1 overall record.
