Panthers make it two in a row with win at Ottawa

Box Score

Ottawa, KAN. - York College made an extra-time win for the second straight game as they defeated Ottawa 3-2. Logan Dye found Jazmin Pineda with just two minutes remaining in the first overtime period to secure the sudden-victory win. Pineda scored for the first time this season with the game-winning goal.

After a scoreless first half, both teams were able to find the back of the net in the four-goal second period. The Panthers started things off when Dye found Myesha Moss in the 50th minute. But it didn't take five minutes for the Braves to answer to knot things up at one.

Breanna Bembenek scored an unassisted goal in the 69th minute, her fifth of the season. York looked to be in control of the game but the Braves got a goal with just five minutes remaining in regulation to force the overtime period.

York was the more dominant team throughout the match as they had a 13-7 shot advantage.

Jazmin Pineda and Cala Jamison led the Panthers with three shots apiece. Alexa Moreno picked up her fourth win on the season in goal for the Panthers.

York will host Avila University on Saturday at 1:00 p.m. It will also be senior day for the Panthers. The honoring of the eight seniors will be after the women's game.
