Box Score CRETE - After a scoreless first half, the Panthers scored the lone goal of the game in the 68th minute of action as Sebastian Sanhueza found Matias Castano for the game-winner over Doane on Friday night.
A game that saw more fouls than it did shots was a nailbiter all night long. Castano was the only player to record multiple shots on goal for either team with two. Vitor Timm tallied three shots overall, and Tamas Sebestyen added two shots for the Panthers.
York showed a little more pressure in the second half but still was only able to find the back of the net the one time. Doane continued strong play and looked to even the score but Cristofer Monje blocked both shots he faced. He finished with the shutout in his first career start for the Panthers.
York picked up a much-needed win as they head into KCAC play this Friday against Ottawa University. The Panthers had not won in their previous six games. They tied twice and lost four. York had not competed since the end of October. Friday's game will begin at approximately 7:30 p.m.
