Box Score YORK - York College scored a goal late in the first half and that was the difference in the nonconference match against visiting Mount Marty University. With 10 minutes remaining in the first half Gina Spight sent a through ball in front of Myesha Moss and she did the rest as she lofted her shot over the Lancers' goalkeeper and into the back of the net for the game-winning goal.
The Panthers found themselves fighting a barrage of shot in the first 15 minutes of play but survived without giving up a goal. The final 30 minutes of the first half saw the Panthers gain momentum and lead at the intermission. York was in control most of the second half as well as they clung to the lead. Alexa Moreno picked up the win in goal after saving all five shots she faced. The Lancers totaled 10 shots, every single one of those happened in the first half as Moreno was a vocal leader during her final 45 minutes of action.
York tallied 11 shots with seven of those on frame. Moss and Jazmin Pineda led the team with three shots each. Cala Jamison added two shots as well.
The Panthers improve to 2-3 on the season and will open their conference play on Sunday, September 19 in North Newton, Kan. York will face Bethel College at 1:00 p.m.
