Women's Soccer: Panthers pick up win on the road at Sterling

Box Score

Sterling, KAN. - York University picked up their first win of the season as they beat Sterling 2-0 on Friday afternoon. On a season that hasn't seen too much offensive pressure from the Panthers, Friday was definitely a different story. The Panthers picked up 35 shots on the afternoon as they dominated the Warriors in all aspects of the game.

Riley Gilbert got the Panthers on the board first scoring on her own in the 52nd minute of play. It took another 25 minutes before the Panthers found the back of the net again as Paisly Cleveland passed the ball to Jacky Cervantes-Cruz for the 2-0 lead.

Alexa Moreno had the easiest game of her season so far as she faced just seven shots total on the day. Three of those were on frame and she easily snagged each of them. The Warriors' goalkeeper was stellar in goal as she accumulated 19 saves on the day.

Cleveland, Cervantes-Cruz, and Nora Martine-Mora led the Panthers with four shots on goal.

The Panthers will host Tabor College on Wednesday afternoon at the Cornerstone Sports Complex. The game is scheduled for a 3:30 p.m. start.
