Box Score CRETE - York University took to the pitch on Thursday night for their second match of the season. The Panthers earned a hard-fought victory over the host Doane Tigers 2-0. After a scoreless 45 minutes, the Panthers wasted no time in the second half as Johan Rodriguez scored less than a minute into the period. The score would stay 1-0 until the 88th minute with Rashid Green scoring the insurance goal.
York controlled the game for the most part as they accumulated 16 shots overall, nine of which were on frame. The Tigers amassed just nine shots, five of which were on frame and saved by starting goalkeeper, Matej Hron. Hron picked up his first win in a Panthers uniform.
Jose Calderon was a force for the Panthers as he led the team with six shots. Archford Manduvi added three shots, while Rodriguez and Walid Fattouh added two each.
The Panthers will host Presentation College on Sunday afternoon with the game scheduled to kick off at 3:30 p.m. The game will take place at the Cornerstone Sports Complex.
