YORK - York got off to a strong start to the 2023-24 season with an 86-65 win on Thursday night over Calvary University. After a slow start the Panthers offense came alive and took a 43-36 lead into intermission. York never looked back as an 11-0 run at the beginning of the second half put the Panthers in cruise control mode the rest of the way.

York shot 43% from the floor on the night and forced the Warriors to just 36% from the floor, including just 32% in the second half. York struggled from the charity stripe in the second half but didn't let that have an effect on the outcome as they held the Warriors to just 29 points after the break.

Halfway through the first half the Warriors held their largest lead at 11 leading 23-12. York used the next three and a half minutes to go on a 14-0 run.Â
York held a 52-32 advantage in the rebound category and a plus 10 for offensive rebounds. York did commit 18 turnovers but the Warriors converted just 15 points out of those. On the other side of the ball the Panthers scored 24 points off of 19 Calvary turnovers.Â
