BARTLESVILLE, Okla. – The York University volleyball team lost a 3-0 decision to top-ranked Oklahoma Wesleyan Tuesday in the KCAC Quarterfinals.
The Panthers are now 19-15 on the season while OKWU improves to 28-2.
Set scores were 25-11, 25-13 and 25-17.
For the match,
Brianna Lemke led the team with six kills.
Avery Schneider added five kills while
Jai Dotson,
Kenna Tarnowski and
Kaylee Weigel had four kills apiece.
Kensey Clifton and
Mariah Janda each dished out 11 assists. At the service line,
Florencia Felmer recorded an ace.
Defensively, Dotson had three blocks while Lemke, Schneider, Tarnowski and Weigel had two blocks each.
Aubrey Bostick was in on one kill in the loss.
Cassie Richardson guided the squad with eight digs while Janda chipped in seven. Valentina and
Ambar Ortiz garnered six and four, respectively.
A back-and-forth second set saw the teams trade the first 10 points. A point from Schneider made it 5-5. Down 16-9, Tarnowski slammed home a kill before an attack error by the Eagles made it 16-11.
A kill from Tarnowski early in the third set made it 3-2. Trailing 11-7, Janda hammered home a kill. Felmer served up an ace to pull within two. Back-to-back kills from Schneider made it 18-12. Moments later, Dotson and Weigel teamed up for a block to pull within five, 20-15. However, that was as close as the team could get the rest of the way. The teams traded the next four points before the Eagles tallied the final three for the win.
The Panthers return to action Tuesday, Nov. 19, when they play at Mission University (Springfield, Mo.) in the NCCAA Central Region Tournament. First serve is slated for 1 p.m. Live stats and video will be available at Yorkpanthers.com.
