WICHITA, Kan. – The seventh-seeded York University women's soccer team lost a hard-fought KCAC Championship match to fourth-seeded Friends University by a 1-0 score in overtime.
The Panthers conclude the season at 8-7-5 while the Falcons improve to 13-5-1.
Friends University tallied the first three shots of the contest, but York's
Adriana Castellanos Rodrigo blasted an attempt at the 37:53 mark that sailed high. She had another shot four minutes later that also went high of the frame.
Ten minutes into the second half, Castellanos Rodrigo's shot was thwarted by the keeper. An attempt by
Lorna Campos was saved at the 85:58 mark. With no score, the contest went into overtime.
The designated home team found the back of the net at the 92:38 mark for the 1-0 final score.
York's defense was tremendous in the match, forcing eight of the 13 shots to not be on target.
Harumi Cornejo recorded four saves while playing all 93 minutes between the pipes.
For the match, York totaled four shots, including two on goal. The Panthers earned one corner kick.
