TULSA, Okla. – The York University men's soccer team ended its season in the KCAC Quarterfinals with a 4-0 loss to top-seeded Oklahoma Wesleyan Wednesday.
The Panthers stand at 6-8-5 on the year while the Eagles improve to 18-1.
York earned a corner kick just 89 seconds into the match. Off the set piece,
Sergio Bueno tallied a header on frame, but it was saved by the keeper.
Down 1-0 in the early going,
Diego Yanes rocketed an attempt that sailed high at the 3:57 mark.
Jamie Watt turned away a shot on goal in the fifth minute, but the No. 2 team in the nation pushed the score to 2-0 with a goal in the ninth minute of action.
At the 13:47 mark,
Matias Trettel blasted a shot that sailed to the right of the frame.
Watt made a pair of saves later in the period to keep it at 2-0 entering halftime.
OWU added a pair of goals quickly in the second stanza for what turned out to be the 4-0 final.
For the match, Bueno, Trettel and Yanes all had shots. Bueno placed the team's lone shot on goal.
Between the pipes, Watt stopped seven shots.
