SALINA, Kan. – The York University men's basketball team dropped a 100-61 decision at Kansas Wesleyan Wednesday evening.
The Panthers are now 4-7 overall, including 1-5 in KCAC action. The Coyotes stand at 7-5 on the year and 2-4 against league foes.
York was guided by
Carl Thorpe Jr.'s 20-point, 10-rebound, two-block performance. Andre Bennett reached double figures with 18 points. He added five rebounds and three assists.
Ikechukwu Nwaobi amassed nine points and a team-best four assists in the loss.
Rhino Hernandez chipped in six markers for the visitors.

Amari Haynes distributed three assists.
Trailing 20-16, Thorpe Jr., canned a pair of free throws at the 9:49 mark of the first half. Two more free throws – this time by Bennett – made it a 25-24 contest. The Panthers registered a 32-30 advantage at the 3:04 mark on a three-ball from Thorpe Jr. However, KWU managed to take a 40-32 lead into the break.
Down by 10, York cut the deficit to eight, 42-34, on a jumper by Thorpe Jr., with 19:20 to play. That basket marked the closest the Panthers would get the rest of the way as the Coyotes hit back-to-back three-point shots. The home team held a double-digit lead the rest of the contest.
For the game, York hit 20-of-54 from the floor, including a six-of-16 effort from downtown. The Panthers were nearly perfect at the charity stripe, burying 15-of-16 (93.8 percent). York snagged 30 rebounds, including nine on the offensive glass.
York dished out 13 assists in the contest. The squad scored 26 points in the lane and connected on nine second chance points.
