HILLSBORO, Kan. – The York University baseball team lost a pair of games at Tabor by scores of 15-5 and 17-3 Saturday in KCAC play.
The Panthers are now 6-10 overall, including 0-5 in KCAC action.
In game one, Tabor plated four runs in the first, but York sliced the deficit to one, 4-3, in the top of the second.
Trevor Peterson led off the inning with a single and scored on
Ian Heck's double to center field. After
Ryan Romero singled,
Nicholas DeMonte drove in Heck. Moments later,
Austin Grant doubled in Romero.
The home team added six runs over the next three innings to make it 11-3. Romero blasted a leadoff homer in the sixth.
Daniel Polo crushed a solo home run in the seventh, but Tabor added three runs in the eighth for the 15-5 final.
For the game, Romero led the way with three hits, including a home run. He also scored twice.
On the mound,
James McCown got the start and worked three innings. He had one strikeout.
Owen McClung tossed the final 3.1 innings and had three strikeouts.
In game two, Tabor scored five in the first, two in the second, eighth in the third and two in the fourth but the Panthers continued to play hard. The visitors broke through with three runs in the seventh inning.
Garrett Bonnell walked,
Tyren Dorrance was hit by a pitch and with one away,
Cameron Reeve crushed a three-run home run.
For the game,
Cesar Galvan had two hits while Reeve led the way with three RBI.
On the mound,
Dalton Juden took the loss.
Thomas Fogle,
Josiah Young,
Marce Vasquez and
Ruben Colliander all saw time on the mound. Dalton had a team-best two strikeouts.
