WINFIELD, Kan. – The York University men's basketball team lost a 94-62 contest at Southwestern Friday evening.
The Panthers are now 4-9 overall, including 1-7 against KCAC action.
York was led by
Chris Dixon's 12-point performance.
Dave Dalge added nine points while
Carl Thorpe Jr., added six.
Terrence Packer came off the bench to score nine while
Devin Carroll and
Eli Nutting had eight markers each off the bench.
For the game, York hit 23-of-69, including a sizzling nine-of-18 from downtown. The team grabbed 34 rebounds. The Panthers dished out seven assists, had six steals and swatted three shots in the loss.
Down 9-5, a three-ball from
Rhino Hernandez made it a one-point game at the 16:05 mark.
Chris Dixon's jumper knotted the score with 15:28 showing on the clock. The Panthers took a one-point lead, 14-13, when Hernandez found Dixon for a jumper.
Tied at 16-16, Southwestern embarked on a 10-0 spurt. Trailing 46-29, Dixon hit a shot and
Eli Nutting canned a three-point bucket with 1:22 to go before halftime. However, the home team held a 50-34 edge at the break.
Down 84-48, York ended the game by outscoring the opposition 14-10.
Devin Carroll took a pass from
Kyane Taylor and nailed a three-point shot. Packer drained a bucket before Nutting and Packer scored back-to-back baskets. Packer continued his hot shooting, drilling a shot from behind the arc at the 2:33 mark. He hit another field goal with just 1:41 to play.
