YORK, Neb. – The York University volleyball team lost a 3-0 decision to Evangel Saturday afternoon.
The Panthers are now 11-16 on the season, including 1-5 in KCAC action.
Head coach
Irick Gardner's team was led by
Brianna Lemke's 10-kill performance.
Ronan Merriex added seven kills while
Jassania Joseph and
Kaylee Weigel tallied five kills apiece.
Florencia Felmer and
Emma Kerley added three kills and two kills, respectively.
Kensey Clifton dished out 16 assists while
Meadow Nusbaum contributed 10 assists.
Valentina Jimenez posted 17 digs while
Olivia Romero chipped in eight in the loss.
A kill by Joseph pushed York to a 21-16 lead in the first set. Tied at 21-21, Merriex gave the home team a one-point cushion. A point from Merriex and an error by the Valor gave the Panthers a 24-23 advantage. However, Evangel managed to escape with a 28-26 win in the set.
A nip-and-tuck affair in the second set saw the Panthers take a 12-11 lead on a point from Merriex, but the Valor pulled away for a 25-17 victory.
Evangel controlled the third set in a 25-14 win.
For the match, York had 32 kills and dished out 31 assists. The squad served up four aces and recorded 45 digs.
