BARTLESVILLE, Okla. – The York University volleyball team lost a 3-0 decision at Oklahoma Wesleyan Saturday afternoon.
The Panthers are now 12-20 overall, including 2-9 in KCAC action.
Set scores were 25-14, 25-19 and 25-14.
Head coach
Irick Gardner's team was led by
Brianna Lemke's 10-kill performance.
Jassania Joseph added eight kills while hitting .636.
Jai Dotson notched four kills while
Florencia Felmer,
Ronan Merriex,
Kaylee Weigel and
Amber White added a kill apiece.
Kensey Clifton dished out 17 assists while
Meadow Nusbaum had six.
Elena Brown contributed one.
Brown and Felmer each had one ace in the match.
Defensively,
Amber White added two blocks. Joseph chipped in a solo block and a block assist. Clifton, Lemke, Dotson and
Emma Kerley each had a block.
Valentina Jimenez recorded 15 digs while Clifton totaled five.
Olivia Romero had three. Felmer and Merriex accounted for two apiece while Dotson, Kerley, Brown, Nusbaum and
Kory Anschutz had one apiece.
For the match, York tallied 26 kills and two aces. The team earned four total blocks, had 24 assists and recorded 32 digs.
After dropping the first set, Lemke got things going in the second stanza with a kill. Dotson and Lemke added points before an error gave the Panthers a 4-1 cushion. Lemke's point made it 5-2, but the home team embarked on an 8-1 spurt for a 10-6 edge.
York battled back with two points from Joseph and an ace from Felmer to pull within one at 10-9. OKWU led 21-14 before two errors made it 21-16. Trailing 22-16, Joseph slammed home a kill. An error and a block from Joseph and Kerley pulled the visitors within four, but OKWU scored the final two points for the six-point win.
