YORK, Neb. – The York University men's basketball team lost a 77-55 decision to Friends University Saturday afternoon.
The Panthers are now 2-7 overall, including 0-3 in KCAC action.
Head coach
Mitch McMullen's team was led by
Devin Carroll and
Jadin Johnson as each netted 15 points.
Dave Dalge chipped in 10 markers while
Nathaniel Owen posted six points and seven rebounds.
Johnson grabbed five boards as did
Eli Nutting. Carroll and Dalge had four rebounds apiece.
Johnson dished out six assists while Dalge swatted a pair of shots.
Down 6-2 in the early going, Carroll nailed a three-ball before Dalge knotted the score at 6-6 on a free throw. Trailing 17-6, Owen connected on a shot from distance before
Landon Miller took a pass from
Shaun Armstrong for a lay-up at the 10:22 mark.
At the 4:47 mark,
Jadin Johnson found Dalge for a three-point bucket, trimming the deficit to nine, 28-19. Four late points by the Panthers cut the margin to 32-23 with 1:57 to play, but the Falcons maintained a 38-24 edge at the break.
Three-point baskets from Carroll and Owen sliced the deficit to 11, 44-33, with 17:01 to play. Dalge found Carroll for another shot from deep, cutting the margin to 10. However, that was as close as the team could get the rest of the way.
For the game, York hit 20-of-63 from the field, including 11-of-41 from behind the three-point stripe. The squad pulled down 35 boards, including 11 from the offensive glass. The Panthers distributed 12 assists and accounted for 10 points off turnovers. York netted 14 points in the paint and had five second-chance points.
