SPRINGFIELD, Mo. – The York University women's basketball team lost a 113-65 contest at Evangel Saturday afternoon.
The Panthers are now 4-9 on the year, including 0-7 in KCAC action.
Head coach
Corinna Minjarez's team was guided by
Destiny Shepherd's 19-point performance.
Alesia Rand added 11 points while
Lawson Hiltl contributed nine.
Zoe Brown tallied seven points, and
Cori Brown contributed four markers.
Rand snagged seven rebounds while Shepherd,
Amaya Payne and
Olivia Adams had four rebounds apiece.
Cori Brown dished out four assists while
Lauren Perez had three assists.
Alliyana Page and Rand had two assists apiece while
Zoe Brown and Payne had one each.
Evangel led 38-12 after the first quarter and maintained a 67-32 advantage at the break. The second half was much closer, but York was outscored 23-15 in the third frame and 23-18 in the final 10 minutes of action.
For the game, York hit 23-of-58 from the floor, including 16-of-21 from the charity stripe. The squad scored 30 points in the paint and had 12 second-chance points.
Minjarez's team pulled down 31 rebounds and posted 13 assists. The squad also had three steals in the contest.
