YORK, Neb. – The York University men's basketball team lost a 90-64 decision to Oklahoma Wesleyan Saturday afternoon.
The Panthers are now 7-18 on the season, including 4-16 in KCAC action.
Head coach
Tree Burks' team was led by
Chris Dixon's 14-point effort.
Dave Dalge added 12 points while
Carl Thorpe Jr., totaled eight points and eight boards.
Eli Nutting also had eight markers.
DJ Leaks contributed six points while
Dylan Holston registered five points and five boards.
Devin Carroll and
Josh Schloss had three points apiece while
Andrew Bennett and
Rhino Hernandez tacked on two points each.
Terrence Packer had a point.
Amari Haynes dished out a pair of assists in the loss.
Hernandez found Carroll for a three-point bucket at the 17:02 mark, giving the Panthers a 10-9 lead. The back-and-forth game saw the home squad hold a 12-11 edge n a lay-up by Thorpe Jr. Moments later, Holston snagged a rebound and Nutting took a pass from Leaks for a lay-up, giving York an 18-17 edge at the 11:50 mark.
A three-ball by Nutting with 9:23 to play made it a 25-24 game, but Oklahoma Wesleyan went on a 12-0 spurt for a 37-24 edge. The visitors held a 51-36 lead at the break.
Down by 20 early in the second period, the Panthers made it an 18-point contest when Hernandez canned a jumper at the 18:32 mark. That prove to be the closest the team could get the rest of the way.
For the game, York hit 25-of-62 from the floor, including six-of-26 from downtown. The team canned eight-of-13 from the charity stripe. The Panthers pulled down 35 rebounds, including 11 on the offensive glass. That led to 12 second-chance points. Burks' squad scored 30 points in the paint.
