YORK, Neb. - The York University softball team lost both games of the doubleheader to Sterling College on Senior Day, dropping games by scores of 8-0 and 18-3.
The Panthers wrap up the year at 8-36. The team concludes KCAC action at 3-23.
Bethany Wright ripped a one-out single to left field and moved to second base on a groundout in the bottom of the first, but a grounder ended the threat.
Sterling pushed across a pair of runs in the second for a 2-0 lead. The Panthers tried to get things going in the fourth when Wright recorded a base hit to left center field, but she was thrown out at second base. Moments later,
Kennedie Anderson tallied a base knock up the middle, but a strikeout ended the inning.
The visitors pushed across three more in the fifth and one run in the sixth and two in the seventh for the eight-run margin.
York continued to battle as Anderson roped a one-out double to right center field in the bottom of the seventh. With two runners on base, a line drive ended the contest.
For the game, Anderson and Wright each had a pair of hits. Anderson posted a double.

Faith Torstensen got the start and worked three innings.
Alex Harwell entered and finished the game, striking out three.
Game two saw Sterling take an early lead and broke it open with a 10-run fifth inning for an 18-3 advantage. However, the Panthers continued to push forward.
In the bottom of the seventh,
Emma Morphew registered an infield single and took second on a walk to
Carla Martinez. Two batters later,
Chloe Lockhart launched a three-run blast.
For the game, Lockhart led the way with a three-run home run. Morphew and Wright also posted base hits.

Kaitlyn Roe worked three innings. Lockhart tossed the final two innings and had a pair of strikeouts.
