BRANSON, Mo. – The York University softball team split a doubleheader on Saturday, falling to Viterbo 6-5 before besting Waldorf 13-3.
The Panthers are now 3-9 on the season.
Against Viterbo, York broke the scoreless tie in the third.
Taylor Jones led off with a single and
Brooklyn Hadl followed her up with a base knock to center field. Two batters later,
Emma Peeples drew a walk. With two down,
Sydney Rann reached on a throwing error, allowing Jones and Hadl to race home for a two-run margin.
Leading 2-1 in the fourth, Larson registered a one-out double and took third on a passed ball. She raced across the plate on a sacrifice fly by Jones, but Viterbo struck for three runs in the fifth for a 4-3 advantage.
In the sixth, York posted a pair of runs.
Caitlyn Dannenfelzer drew a one-out walk and stole second. She scored on a double by Jones. Moments later,
Lexi Knapp's single plated Jones for a one-run lead.
With two outs in the seventh, Viterbo pushed across the game-winning run.
For the game, Larson, Jones and Hadl had two hits apiece. Jones scored twice.
In the circle, Larson went 6.2 innings and had seven strikeouts.
Against Waldorf, York took a 1-0 lead in the first as Nelson reached on an error. She came around to score on Knapp's infield single.
Down 3-1 in the second, Hadl walked and went to third on a single by
Bethany Wright. With two on, Peeples singled in Hadl. K. Ruckman's sacrifice fly plated Wright before Peeples scored on a passed ball.
The Panthers scored nine runs in the third for the 10-run victory.
Wright singled home Jones, who had singled to left field. Moments later,
Morgan Cameron singled in Hadl. Larson drew a bases loaded walk before Knapp's double knocked in three. Wright singled home
Moriah Hoshowski and Jones for the final tally.
For the game, Wright led the way with three hits. She drove in three while Knapp drove in four on two hits. Wright, Jones, Hadl, Peeples and Nelson scored twice.

Ashley Falk worked four frames and had a strikeout in the win.
Madison Sayer tossed the fifth inning of the win.
