Coach Alvarez will be entering his 5th year coaching at the collegiate level and his 4th with York University. Alvarez was born and raised in Madera, California, and came to York University in the Fall of 2017 to continue his playing career.
Alvarez spent his college playing career as a bullpen specialist. He collected a total of 4 wins, 61 innings pitched, 52 strikeouts, and averaged 7.6 strikeouts per 9 innings of work. In both years playing for York University, he was a part of 2 NAIA National Tournament Appearances. In 2018, Alvarez was also a recipient of the NAIA National Champions of Character Award.
Before continuing his playing career, Coach Alvarez spent the 2017 season as an Assistant Coach for Citrus College, a junior college in southern California. Prior to the season starting he was named the Pitching Coach. In his first season as the Pitching Coach, Citrus College compiled a very impressive 2017 campaign on the mound ranking #1 in their conference for Strikeouts, Walks Allowed, and Strikeout Average per game.
In 2019, Coach Alvarez also spent a season as the Bullpen Coach for the Hastings Sodbusters in the Expedition League.
Outside of the diamond, Alvarez is a Firefighter with the US Army and a Volunteer Firefighter with the City of York Fire Department. Coach Alvarez holds a bachelor's degree in Sports Management & Business Administration.
Along with being the Strength and Conditioning Coach for the program, Coach Alvarez assists with multiple roles such as Assistant Pitching Coach, Baseball Operations, and Recruiting.
