Coach Gray enters his 18th season as a coach for the Panthers. Since joining the program in the fall of 2005, Gray has been a key part of the multiple seasons of great success. This has consisted of 4 Regular Season Conference Championships, 3 Conference Tournament Championships, 9 NAIA National Tournament Appearances, and a World Series Appearance in 2013. Coach Gray holds the title of Associate Head Coach and also works with the pitchers as the Pitching Coach.
In his time as the pitching coach (6 years), Coach Gray has coached one All-American in Matt Lindsley, who, in 2019, went 12-2 with a 3.10 ERA, throwing 101.2 innings, allowing 87 hits, and striking out 104. The 2019 Panther pitching staff also set the school record for strikeouts as a staff (395). Coach Gray has coached numerous All-Conference players, with the most recent being Daniel Tomkiewicz. In 2022, Tomkiewicz went 4-3 with 2.81 ERA, throwing 64 innings, allowing 45 hits, and striking out 82 batters.
Coach Gray came to York University in 2001 out of James Bowie High School, in Arlington, Texas. He spent four years as an outfielder under the current Associate Head Coach of the University of Central Arkansas Nick Harlan and current Head Coach of York University Brian Walth, before taking up a position on the staff in fall of 2005.
Coach Gray graduated from York University with a Bachelor's degree in Physical Education with an emphasis in Special Education and holds a Master's degree in Sports Science from the United States Sports Academy. He is originally from Arlington, Texas, and currently lives in York with his wife, Krissy, his two daughters, Birkley (12) and Kyiah (10), and son Harlan (6).
