Corinna Minjarez

Corinna “Cory” Minjarez is the Head Coach of York University’s Women’s Basketball
team, bringing a blend of experience, passion, and dedication to the role. Cory’s journey
in basketball began at Riverside High School in El Paso, Texas, where she distinguished
herself as one of the top ten female athletes and one of the premier players in the city.
Graduating in 2011 from Riverside HS, she continued her playing career at Clarendon
Junior College, earning all-conference honors through her exceptional performances.

In 2013, Minjarez transferred to York College and made an immediate impact. She was a
1st team all-conference player for two consecutive years, collected multiple conference
player of the week honors, and was elected to the All-Nebraska NAIA for both seasons
as a Panther. Cory holds the record for the most points scored in a single season at
York University and amassed over 1,000 points in her two-year career with the Panthers.
Her scoring prowess and defensive skills consistently made her the leading scorer and
leader in steals on every team she played for.

Transitioning from player to coach, Minjarez began her coaching career as a graduate
assistant at York University, quickly taking on assistant coaching duties. In just two
seasons, she ascended to the role of head coach of the Panthers. As head coach,
Minjarez has led her team to the playoffs for a season and has coached four
all-conference players, continuously striving for excellence in the highly competitive
Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference (KCAC). Her coaching philosophy emphasizes
self-discipline, believing in oneself, and fostering a supportive team environment where
athletes can transform their potential into performance both on and off the court.

Cory remains committed to building a strong program at York University and
empowering her players to achieve their best. She is a proud York University alumna
and currently resides in York with her dog, Dubs.
