Volleyball: York takes care of Union in straight sets

YORK - York College wasted no time as they won their home opener in just 52 minutes of play 25-11, 25-17, and 25-12. Behind a packed crowd in the Freeman Center, York used a 11-0 run to start the night and never looked back.

York accumulated 13 kills in the first game for a .280 hitting percentage. The Panthers upped that in game two with a .300 percentage, before the final game saw a dip with 10 kills and nine errors.

The Panthers were led by Molly Little (JR/Billings, Mont) and Rose Tafaoialii (SO/Magna, Utah) with seven kills a piece, while only committing two hitting errors. Shiloh Lively (FR/Las Vegas, Nev) added six kills, and Haley Scoffield (JR/Casper, Wyo) and Cassidy Wilson (SR/Moore, Okla) added four each.

Kayli Riesgo (JR/Tuscan, Ariz) had 24 assists while Deborah Kurtzer (SR/Haxtun, Colo) led the defense with 13 digs. Scoffield was a solid middle as well picking up four blocks on the night.

The Panthers are home this Saturday hosting a triangular with Mount Marty and Central Christian coming to town. York will play Mount Marty at 2:00 p.m. and then the visiting Tigers at 6:00 p.m.
