Panthers fall to Oklahoma Wesleyan Eagles in 4th set

York - The Panthers could not hold out against the Eagles of Oklahoma Wesleyan, losing in four, 25-19; 23-25; 23-25; 13-25. Four Panther attackers finished with double digits on the night. Bailey Johnson (JR/Chico. Calif) led the Panthers with 13 kills, followed by Rose Tafaoialii (JR/Magna, Utah) with 12 kills, Molly Bich (SR/Billings, Mont) with 11 kills, and Tori Schindler (JR/Longmont, Colo)with 10 kills. Rounding out the offense Jasmine Scarbrough (FR/Arlington, Texas) had 3 service aces on the night.

Defensively, Naomi Warren (JR/Fort Worth, Texas) took charge with 19 digs, followed by Kayli Riesgo (SR/Tuscon, Ariz) with 16, Jasmine Scarbrough, with 14, and Kaylin Miller (FR/Lincoln, Neb) with 10.

Eagles' hitter Laine Alves led the offense with 17 kills. Bobana Marusic picked up 27 defensive digs.

The changing moment of the match seemed to be in the third set when the Panthers were up 23-19. The Eagles' coach called a timeout which changed the momentum for OKWU, as they went on a 6-0 run to win that set 25-23. In the fourth set, the Panthers could not get an attack to drop due to the Eagles' defense picking everything up.

York will be back Saturday, November 2, at 1:00 pm in the Freeman Center facing the McPherson Bulldogs.
