Box Score 2 This past weekend York University had their first tournament of the season in Illinois. The team had a successful start to their season Friday evening going 1-1 beating Governors State University in four sets and dropping a tough match to Olivet Nazarene.
Liberty Baker had a great start to the season on the offensive side while
Cassie Richardson and
Jasmine Scarbrough led the Panthers defense along with the help of
Danielle Armendariz on both offense and defense.

York's first match of the season was a win beating Governors State University in four sets. Each set was exciting as the scores were 25-23, 25-21, 21-25, and 25-2.
Liberty Baker and Jasmine Scarborough each accumulated ten kills each in the match followed by
Danielle Armendariz with eight.
Cassie Richardson led the Panthers defense tallying up 23 digs in the match.
Mariah Janda finished the match with 32 assists and 16 digs. Scarborough and Armendariz also finished the match with digs in the double digits.

In game two the Panthers were unable to end the night with a win, losing to Olivet Nazarene in straight sets.
Liberty Baker was able to put up double digits in kills again with 12.
Cassie Richardson also put up double digits in digs again with 10.
Mariah Janda finished the night off with 24 assists in game two. York's defense was backed by Scarborough (8 digs) and Janda (6 digs). The Panthers finished their tournament with games against Mount Marty University and Calumet College of St. Joseph (Ind.) on Saturday afternoon.
