Women's Soccer holds to draw with ninth-ranked Eagles

YORK, Neb. - The York University women's soccer team played ninth-ranked Oklahoma Wesleyan to a scoreless draw Saturday afternoon.

The Panthers are now 6-4-3 on the year, including 3-2-3. OKWU stands at 10-0-3 overall and 7-0-1 in KCAC action.

York registered two shots on goal in the frame and notched a pair of corner kicks.

In goal, Harumi Cornejo played 89 minutes and had 11 saves, preserving the hard-fought shutout. Sofia Falcao also saw time between the pipes.

Ava Gibson Doyle and Zippora Nigg tallied shots on frame for the Panthers.

Just 84 seconds into the match, Nigg blasted an attempt that was thwarted by the keeper. York did not have another opportunity until Doyle's shot on frame was saved at the 84:42 mark.

Cornejo was outstanding throughout the match – and her two late saves in the final three minutes kept the visitors off the scoreboard. The Eagles had not been shutout since August 30th, their only other tie on the season.

The Panthers return to action Wednesday when they play at Friends University at 3 p.m. Live stats and video will be available at Yorkpanthers.com.
