Men's Soccer wins behind two goals from Yanes

YORK, Neb. – The York University men's soccer team picked up a 2-0 victory over Bethel Wednesday afternoon in KCAC play.

The Panthers are now 3-4-3 overall and 2-2-1 in KCAC action.

York got on the board early on when Diego Yanes took a pass from Tomas Viralhadas and promptly blasted the shot into the back of the net in the sixth minute of play for a 1-0 edge.

The score would remain the same until the duo connected again at the 50:47 mark. Viralhadas found Yanes, who ripped a shot past the keeper for the 2-0 edge.

The two goals by Yanes were more than enough as Jamie Watt turned away five shots on goal en route to the clean sheet.

Yanes converted two goals in four shots, including three on frame, while Viralhadas dished out two assists in the victory. Sergio Bueno, Matias Madriaga and Viralhadas each attempted shots in the victory.

For the match, York tallied seven shots, including four on goal. The Panthers accounted for a pair of corner kicks in the win.

Bueno's attempt was high of the goal in the 42nd minute of action. Yanes went wide at the 47:27 mark while Viralahdas' shot sailed high at the 53:32 mark.
