YORK, Neb. – The York University men's soccer team notched a 1-0 win over Southwestern University Saturday afternoon on Senior Day.
The Panthers are now 6-6-4 on the year, including a 5-4-2 mark in KCAC action.
After a scoreless first half, Southwestern was whistled for a foul in the box at the 48:12 mark.
Jorge Boto promptly stepped up and blasted the penalty kick past the keeper for a 1-0 advantage.
York continued to push forward and it resulted in shots from Hulme and
Diego Yanes over the next few minutes, but each attempt was high.
Goncalo Bento's shot on frame was saved at the 63:09 mark.
Archford Manduvi's shot missed wide and
Tiago Neves' attempt was saved in the 65
th minute of action.
The visitors rattled off a shot on goal in the 68
th minute, but
Alexandre Florens was up for the challenge and turned it away.
Neither team managed a shot on goal the rest of the afternoon.
For the match, York posted 12 shots, including four on goal. The Panthers earned six corner kicks in the contest.
Yanes tallied three shots while Boto and
Sergio Bueno accounted for two shots apiece.
In goal, Florens stopped one shot to pick up the clean sheet.
