YORK, Neb. - The York University volleyball team picked up a 3-1 victory over Avila Saturday afternoon in a KCAC match.
The Panthers are now 15-8 overall, including 1-2 in league play. Avila falls to 6-15 on the year and 0-3 in KCAC action.
Set scores were 25-21, 25-21, 19-25, 26-24. After controlling the first two sets the Panthers faltered in the third before rallying from 11 points down in the fourth set to secure the match.
Head coach
Irick Gardner's team was paced by
Kaylee Weigel's team-best 11 kills.
Liberty Baker slammed home 10 kills while
Avery Schneider and
Kenna Tarnowski had eight kills apiece. Tarnowski hit .467 on 15 attempts.
Emma Kerley contributed six kills in the match.
Mariah Janda distributed 19 assists and narrowly missed out on a double-double with nine digs.
Kensey Clifton dished out 14 assists in the win.
At the service line,
Florencia Felmer served up six aces while
Elena Brown,
Amanda Macias, Janda and
Allison Parker had one each.
At the net, Tarnowski and Kerley had two block assists apiece.
Cassie Richardson was outstanding, totaling 13 digs.
Ambar Ortiz notched seven digs in the contest.
