LINDSBORG, Kan. – The York University men's soccer team recorded a 3-1 win at Bethany on Wednesday.
The Panthers are now 5-4-3 on the season, including a 4-2-1 ledger in KCAC action.
York fell behind 1-0 in the 13
th minute, but the visitors struck back just seven minutes later when
Tomas Viralhadas slotted a pass to
Kaden Ogle who connected with a tremendous shot, finding the back of the net.
The Panthers continued pushing forward and it paid off at the 31:19 mark when
Mamadou Doukanse blasted a shot past the keeper for the 2-1 advantage. He was assisted by
Rodrigo Preto and
Diego Yanes.
York had multiple chances late in the period to extend the advantage, but Yanes' shot missed wide and
Simao Mendes' attempt was thwarted by the keeper. Just before intermission, Doukanse's shot sailed to the right of the frame.
Ogle tallied a shot on goal in the 52
nd minute, but it was turned away. A Viralhadas shot was saved at the 74:57 mark, but the Panthers continued pushing forward. After a foul in the box in the 82
nd minute,
Diego Yanes converted the penalty kick for a 3-1 advantage.
For the match, York had 12 shots, including seven on goal. The Panthers earned seven corner kicks in the victory.
In goal,
Jamie Watt tallied four saves in 83 minutes of work.
Alexandre Florens played the final seven minutes in the win.
