SPRINGFIELD, Mo. – The York University men's soccer team played to a 1-1 draw at Evangel Saturday afternoon in the regular-season finale.
The Panthers are now 6-7-5 on the season, including 5-5-3 in KCAC action. The Valor stand at 8-6-4 on the year and 4-6-3 in league play.
York was aggressive from the outset as
Sergio Bueno and
Tomas Viralhadas each posted shots in the seventh minute, but both were blocked. Two minutes later,
Diego Yanes placed a shot on frame that was stopped by the keeper. A shot on frame by Viralhadas in the 22
nd minute was stopped by a defensive player.
In the second half,
Matias Trettel found
Archford Manduvi at the 54:29 mark for a 1-0 score. Four minutes later, Evangel knotted the contest at 1-1.
The Panthers placed a shot on goal in the 67
th minute off the boot of Manduvi, but it was thwarted by the keeper. An attempt by Trettel in the 82
nd minute missed high.
For the match, York tallied 16 shots, including four on goal. The Panthers accounted for five corner kicks in the contest.
Yanes led the team with six shots while Viralhadas accounted for four.
In goal,
Breno Prado played 74 minutes and had seven saves.
Alexandre Florens played 16 minutes and picked up three saves.
