MESQUITE, TEXAS – The York University softball team lost a pair of games Saturday to Benedictine and Oklahoma City University.
The Panthers are now 1-5 on the young season.
In game one
Paige Chapman and
Kayla Noelker were the lone Panthers to record hits in the 24-0 loss. The visitors jumped on top with 10 runs in the first, three in the second, third and fourth innings before plating five in the fifth stanza.
Malia Alvarez,
Kaitlyn Roe and
Alex Harwell saw time in the circle. Alvarez and Roe each had a strikeout in the game.
In the nightcap,
Breanna Underwood was sensational, going three-for-three at the plate. Chapman and
Kennedie Anderson each posted base knocks in the contest.
Nevaeh Reed and
Carla Martinez reached base safely via walks.
Bailey Hardey went the distance. She struck out two batters in the five-inning game.
The Panthers return to action Friday when they play in Sioux Center, Iowa, against Dakota Wesleyan (2 p.m.) and Dordt (6 p.m.).
