BARTLESVILLE, Okla. – The York University baseball team lost a 14-4 decision at Oklahoma Wesleyan
The Panthers are now 6-14 overall, including 0-9 in KCAC play.
York got on the board in the second inning.
Ian Heck led off the frame with a single and moved to third on a
Ryan Romero double to right center field.
Cameron Reeve lifted a fly ball to left field, allowing Heck to score on the sacrifice fly for the 1-0 advantage.
The home team plated nine runs in the fourth inning for a 9-1 edge.
York added a run in the fifth. With one down,
Secundino Morales drew a walk but was erased on a fielder's choice.
Cesar Galvan moved to second on a passed ball. A
Daniel Polo base knock to the gap in right center field drove Galvan in to make it 9-2.
Ryan Romero made it a 9-3 contest with a solo round tripper to lead off the sixth. However, Oklahoma Wesleyan drove in two runs in the bottom of the seventh for an 11-3 advantage.
Trevor Peterson rocketed a lead-off solo homer in the eighth to pull the visitors within seven at 11-4. However, the home squad recorded a three-run homer in the eighth for the 14-4 final
For the game, Polo and Romero had two hits apiece. Polo, Peterson, Reeve and Romero had one RIP each while Galvan, Heck, Peterson and Romero all crossed home plate.
On the mound,
Sam Maudsley had a strikeout in 3.2 innings of work.
Cole Doebele tossed 2.2 frames and recorded three strikeouts while
Josiah Young worked a frame and tallied one strikeout.
