MCPHERSON, Kan. – The York University baseball team lost a 12-2 decision at McPherson College in the series finale Sunday afternoon.
The Panthers are now 9-16 on the season and 1-11 in KCAC action.
Down 2-0 in the top of the third, York sliced the deficit to just one run.
Cameron Reeve and
Ryan Romero drew back-to-back walks.
Secundino Morales laid down a sacrifice bunt, pushing each runner up 90 feet.
Cesar Galvan's sacrifice fly allowed Reeve to score to make it 2-1.
McPherson answered with six runs in the bottom of the third for an 8-1 advantage. The home team tacked on two runs in the sixth to make it 10-1.
York started the seventh with a walk to
Nicholas DeMonte. After a pinch runner trotted on for DeMonte, Reeve singled, pushing
Isaac Stark to third base. Romero launched a sacrifice fly to right field, allowing Stark to race home. His run gave the Panthers two runs.
McPherson plated two runs in the bottom of the seventh for the 12-2 victory.
For the game, Morales and Reeve notched hits. Galvan and Romero each drove in one while Reeve and Stark crossed home plate.
On the mound,
Sam Maudsley got the starting nod and registered a pair of strikeouts.
Dalton Juden also picked up a strikeout in the loss.
