Men's Soccer earns draw against the Bulldogs

YORK, Neb. – The York University men's soccer team played to a 1-1 draw with Concordia Saturday afternoon.

The Panthers are now 1-2-2 on the young season.

Concordia got on the board just 68 seconds into the contest, but York started to push forward. Tomas Viralhadas blasted a shot in the 14th minute, but it missed high.

At the break, the score remained 1-0 in favor of the visitors.

In the second half, Diego Yanes recorded a shot just 2:38 into the frame. Less than a minute later, the score was brought to 1-1 on an own goal.

Yanes had an attempt at the 53:39 mark, but it was turned away. Goncalo Bento's shot sailed wide three minutes later.

Viralhadas posted another shot on frame at the 70:33 mark, but it was thwarted by the keeper. The Panthers' Alex Hulme registered a shot on target with under 10 minutes to play and Diego Yanes belted a shot that sailed high, but neither could find the back of the net.

For the match, Yanes led the way with three shots while Viralhadas accounted for two.

In goal, Jamie Watt played all 90 minutes. He stopped four shots in the draw.

The Panthers return to action Wednesday, Sept. 18, when they host Kansas Wesleyan at 1 p.m., in the KCAC opener. Live stats and video will be available at Yorkpanthers.com.
