YORK, Neb. – The York University women's soccer team lost a 2-0 decision to Kansas Wesleyan Wednesday afternoon.
The Panthers are now 3-3 on the season, including an 0-1 record in KCAC play.
Down 1-0 in the early going,
Ava Gibson Doyle rocketed a shot toward the goal, but it was stopped at the 8:39 mark. In the 15
th minute,
Gracie Reynolds had an attempt that was stopped.
The visitors found the back of the net in the 19
th minute of action for a 2-0 lead.
Gibson Doyle's shot just before intermission sailed wide, keeping the contest at 2-0.
York went on the offensive in the opening portion of the final period.
Lorna Campos blasted a shot, but it was high. Gibson Doyle took a shot on goal in the 49
th minute of play but it was turned away.
Overall, York recorded six consecutive shots to start the frame, including two on goal.
The last shot on goal was from Reynolds at the 57:17 mark, but the keeper was up for the challenge.
For the match, York held a 13-12 edge in shots. The visitors tallied seven shots on goal compared to five by the Panthers.
Reynolds led the way with five shots, including three on goal. Gibson Doyle totaled three shots with two being on target.
In goal,
Harumi Cornejo played all 90 minutes and had five saves on seven shots.
