KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The York University volleyball team picked up two wins on Friday, knocking off Mission and Calvary by scores of 3-1.
The Panthers are now 13-6 on the season.
Against Mission, set scores were 19-25, 25-20, 25-19, 25-15.
York hit .158 for the match while holding the opposition to a mere .043. The Panthers forced the home team into a -.054 attack percentage in the third set and .024 in the fourth frame.
Head coach
Irick Gardner's team rattled off 44 kills, served up seven aces and tallied eight blocks in the victory.
Kaylee Weigel led the way with a match-best 12 kills.
Aubrey Bostick hit .462 and slammed home seven kills against just one error.
Liberty Baker added six kills while
Kenna Tarnowski chipped in five.
Mariah Janda posted 20 assists and 11 digs for a double-double while
Allison Parker accounted for 10 assists.
At the service line,
Elena Brown and
Anna Tate had two aces apiece. Janda,
Amanda Macias and
Ambar Ortiz each served up one ace.
Defensively,
Cassie Richardson amassed 26 digs. Ortiz added nine in the win.
Against Calvary, York rebounded from a first set loss to win 25-20, 25-19 and 25-15.
The Panthers were led by Tarnowski's 16-kill performance while hitting .313. Baker added 13 kills and Bostick chipped in six kills.
Janda dished out 28 assists while
Allison Parker contributed 16.
Defensively, Ortiz registered 20 digs while
Cassie Richardson accounted for 18. Janda's 12 gave her a double-double while
Valentina Jimenez notched 11 digs. At the net, Bostick had four total blocks (two solo, two assisted) while
Emma Kerley and Tarnowski each had a solo block.
