STERLING, Kan. – The York University women's soccer team used a first-half goal to pick up a victory at Sterling by a 1-0 score Wednesday afternoon.
The Panthers are now 4-3-1 overall and 1-1-1 in KCAC action. Sterling falls to 3-4 on the year and 1-2 in league play.
York got on the board for what turned out to be the match-winning goal just before halftime as

Gracie Reynolds for the score at the 41:36 mark.
The Panthers had 12 shots in the opening stanza, including eight on target, but Reynolds' final shot of the period propelled the visitors to the halftime edge.
York was aggressive from the start of the match as
McKenzie Stricker had a shot on goal at the 2:40 mark.
Lorna Campos' attempt in the 11
th minute was thwarted by the keeper. Four minutes later, Laia Gallego balado's shot was stopped by Sterling. Reynolds' first attempt, coming with 16:05 on the clock, resulted in a team save.
Zippora Nigg's shot on goal was saved in the 26
th minute of action and again in the 35
th minute of play.
Kadelia Wilkins' attempt was saved at the 36:08 mark.
The Panthers registered six more shots on goal in the second period, but none found the back of the net. However,
Harumi Cornejo was up to the task, garnering one save on the home team's lone shot on goal en route to the clean slate.
For the match, Reynolds led the way with six shots, including three on goal while producing the only score of the match. Campos posted four shots, including one on frame. Castellanos Rodrigo tallied two shots on goal while Gallego balado totaled two shots, with one being on frame. Nigg accounted for three shots on target in the victory.
In goal, Cornejo played all 90 minutes to record the shutout.
