LEAVENWORTH, Kan. The York University volleyball team lost a 3-0 decision at the University of Saint Mary Saturday evening.
The Panthers are now 15-7 overall, including 1-1 in KCAC action.
Head coach
Irick Gardner's team was led by
Kaylee Weigel's nine-kill performance.
Liberty Baker added four kills while
Aubrey Bostick,
Emma Kerley and
Kenna Tarnowski chipped in three kills apiece.
Mariah Janda dished out 18 assists. At the service line,
Anna Tate recorded a pair of aces while Janda and Weigel had one apiece.
Cassie Richardson accounted for 15 digs while
Valentina Jimenez garnered seven. At the net, Kerley and Tarnowski were each in on a pair of blocks while Baker recorded a solo block.
In the first set, York took a 4-0 lead behind a block from Kerley and Tarnowski and a kill from Weigel. A kill from Baker off a pass from Janda made it 7-4, but the Spires were able to knot the score at 9-9. The back-and-forth affair saw USF take the close win in the stanza.
York was unable to take the final two stanzas, but held early leads in each set.
