Women's Soccer: Early goal by Tabor too much for Panthers to overcome

YORK, Neb. – The York University women's soccer team lost a hard-fought 1-0 contest to Tabor College Wednesday afternoon.

The Panthers are now 0-7-2 on the season, including 0-3-1 in KCAC action.

The visitors managed to push across what turned out to be the match-winning goal in the 12th minute.

Gracie Reynolds registered three shots in the opening stanza, including one in the 20th minute on target. However, she was turned away. Samantha Bayer's attempt in the 34th minute was also swatted by the keeper.

Bayer opened the second stanza with a shot on target, but the keeper managed to come up with the save at the 53:32 mark.

York continued the offensive push in the 59th minute as Alba Montesdeoca notched a shot on frame. Lise Ravat garnered a shot on goal in the 72nd minute as did Lucia Tornero two minutes later. However, both were saved by Neve Mulrooney.

In the last five minutes of action, the Panthers had a pair of shots, but Ellie Reynolds and Gracie Reynolds' attempts were just off target.

For the match, York tallied 14 shots, including seven on goal. The squad earned five corner kicks.

Harumi Cornejo played all 90 minutes between the pipes and stopped four shots.

The Panthers return to action Saturday when they host Friends University at 1 p.m. Live stats and video will be available at Yorkpanthers.com.
