MCPHERSON, Kan. – The York University women's soccer team lost a hard-fought 1-0 match at McPherson College Wednesday evening.
The Panthers are now 3-10-2 on the season, including 3-6-1 in KCAC action.
York had three opportunities in the first 11 minutes of action. Gracie Reyonlds' shot was saved at the 4:06 mark. Four minutes later,
Gracie Reynolds' attempt was blocked.
Paisly Cleveland's shot on frame was turned away in the 11
th minute of play.
Sofia Falcao stopped a pair of attempts by the Bulldogs, keeping the contest scoreless through 22 minutes of action. In the 26
th minute,
Ellie Reynolds' shot sailed wide and the teams entered the second period at a stalemate.
Falcao turned away two attempts in the first 15 minutes of play in the second stanza. In the 62
nd minute, York nearly took the lead, but
Samantha Bayer's shot hit the crossbar.
Ellie Reynolds' shot on frame was stopped in the 71
st minute.
The Bulldogs broke through for the match-winning score in the 82
nd minute, but York continued to play in the offensive third of the pitch.
Maisie Briscoe's shot was saved in the 87
th minute. A last-second shot by
Cara Van Der Straaten missed wide.
For the match, York tallied 12 shots, including four on goal.
Falcao played all 90 minutes in goal and had seven saves.
