Women's Soccer: Cornejo scores late goal to help Panthers earn tie with Braves

OTTAWA, Kan. – The York University women's soccer team played to a 1-1 draw at Ottawa Saturday evening.

The Panthers are now 3-10-3 on the year, including 3-6-2 in KCAC action.

After a scoreless first half, the Braves broke through with a goal in the 72nd minute. However, York quickly battled back.

Harumi Cornejo found the back of the net right after a foul on Ottawa at the 80:50 mark. Three minutes later, York earned a corner kick, but the team was unable to get a shot off.

With just over a minute to play, Ellie Reynolds rocketed an attempt toward the frame, but it narrowly missed left. That resulted in the draw.

For the match, York held a 16-9 edge in shots, including a 9-6 lead in shots on goal. Both teams had four corner kicks.

Sofia Falcao stopped five shots while playing all 90 minutes in goal.

Cornejo had a goal and led the way with five shots on goal. Ellie Reynolds placed two of her four shots on frame while Gracie Reyolds accounted for three shots, with one being on target.
