YORK, Neb. – The York University women's soccer team lost a hard-fought 2-1 contest to Bethel Wednesday evening.
The Panthers are now 3-11-3 overall, including 3-7-2 in KCAC play.
York jumped on top at the 6:27 mark when
Lucia Tornero powered home a shot for a quick 1-0 advantage. The Panthers dominated possession in the opening stanza.
Samantha Bayer had a shot on goal in the seventh minute while
Amber Boswell and Tornero each accounted for attempts. In the 13
th minute, Tornero and Bayer garnered shots in the 13
th minute.
The Panthers had seven more shots in the period, including one on goal by Bayer, but none could find the back of the net. York went into the second stanza holding a 1-0 cushion.
Bethel tied it in the 64
th minute and managed to secure the match-winning goal at the 88:36 mark for the one-goal victory.
Gracie Reynolds' attempt in the 90
th minute narrowly missed wide for the final tally.
For the match, York dominated in shots, 21-9. The Panthers accounted for five shots on frame compared to three by the visitors.
Sofia Falcao played all 90 minutes in goal and had a save. Bayer had seven shots, including three on goal.
Gracie Reynolds totaled four shots while
Ellie Reynolds and Tornero had three shots apiece.
