YORK, Neb. – The York University men's soccer team scored early and often in the 4-2 win over Friends University Saturday afternoon.
The Panthers are now 7-3 overall, including a 4-1 ledger in KCAC action.
York jumped on top early in the first period when
Joao Vitor Tavares rocketed a shot past the keeper for a 1-0 advantage at the 17:44 mark.
Franco Pablot found Tavares for his second goal of the match just five minutes later for the two-goal margin.
Just 1:58 into the second stanza,
Asaph Achero rocketed a shot that found the back of the net for a 3-0 lead.
Friends struck with a score in the 53
rd minute, but Achero was up to the challenge. He tacked on his second score of the afternoon at the 61:09 mark for a 4-1 advantage.
The Falcons added a goal, but York clamped down the rest of the way and did not allow them to get any closer.
For the match, York tallied 14 shots, including eight on goal. The team earned three corner kicks.
Jamie Watt played all 90 minutes in goal and had five saves.
The Falcons struck quickly, making it a two-goal match at the 63:29 mark, but the Panthers' defense withstood the opposition the rest of the way.
